Weitere Themen sind Beiträge zur Rolle der Veterinärmedizin bei der Vogelzucht, Ernährung und der Einfluß der Handaufzucht auf die Prägung von Jungvögeln u.v.m. | Birds are among the most extensively studied of all vertebrate taxa, and among the ones for which the most experience in captive propagation and re-introduction of restocking is available. Ýet so far no attempt has been made to bring together the approaches of as many branches of biosciences as possible with the experience of breeding and conservation institutions, to present an overview of the multidisciplinary ramifications snd interrelationships between concepts and methodes. This volume is the first one to specifically address modern zoobiology as a both interdisciplinary and dynamically process-orientated science specifically of birds. It presents overviews of importand methods and concepts as well as applications to selected case projects. Among the authors are Carel ten Cate, Gerry Dorrestein, David Houston, Ellen Thaler and other renowed ornithologists, and the range of topics covers areas from molecular genetics, biochemistry and metabolism to behavioural biology, bioacoustic, evolutionary and behaviourals ecology.
