It is being used as food, fertilizer and a resource for chemical constituents. Approximately 500,000 tons are being traded yearly with a value of about 1 billion US dollars. In cooperation with ETI, Dr. Critchley of the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa constructed this interactive multimedia information system on the circa 25 species of importance for rearing. This CD-ROM contains a unique compilation of a detailed species information and identification guide and an overview of rearing methods and problem solving. ETI's interactive Linnaeus II software warrants ease of use and consultation of this unique electronic database.
